It is important for Congolese people to promote a positive image of their country in order to attract investors and tourists, declared the Minister of Tourism during his press conference.
On this occasion, Didier M’Pambia announced that the first edition of the World Festival of Music and Tourism will be held this coming July in Kinshasa.
The event will be held under the theme:
Promoting tourism and culture as drivers of peace, intercultural dialogue, and inclusive economic development, while also showcasing the immense potential of the DRC in the fields of tourism and culture.
The Minister of Tourism emphasized that this festival also aims to demonstrate the economic impact of tourism and culture on the country, while calling on the participation of all Congolese citizens.
This global event aspires to highlight the DRC’s powerful soft powers, while strengthening intercontinental and global cooperation through culture and tourism. The World Festival of Music and Tourism is intended to serve as a showcase for building a positive image of the DRC, he stated.
Regarding the guided tours planned as part of the festival, the Minister of Tourism announced several iconic sites on the program, including:
– a cruise on the majestic Congo River,
– visits to the National Museum,
– the Lumumba Site,
– the Academy of Fine Arts,
– Nsia Mfumu,
– the Mangrove,
– and the N’sele tourist site.
For her part, Minister of Culture Yolande Elebe said that this festival is a unique opportunity to celebrate the richness and cultural diversity of the DRC:
Music from around the world will resonate in our country, in our capital, accompanied by an invitation to discover our landscapes, our gastronomy, and above all, our warm and welcoming people. We want to offer a platform for Congolese and international artists to express their talents. This will not only promote music as an artistic expression but also strengthen our cultural identity.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) will also take part in the festival.
